Best way in my opinion is to hire a motorbike. It is cheap and such a great way to explore the island. SDR has a hire service with new Honda motorbikes. Easy to ride.

Bus, V-Hire, Taxi, or Hire Car with Driver and then a banca to Malapascua Island

Bus will cost less than 250 pesos. Ceres Liners leaves from Northern Bus Terminal to Maya.

V-hire will cost 3 – 6 times that price.

Taxi will cost approx. 2,200 – 3000 pesos.

Excellent method is to Hire a Honda motorbike from SDR (250 pesos per day – based on month) 350 pesos per day for 1 week+ or 450 pesos for daily

Car with Driver from SDR is slightly more expensive than a taxi but you will travel in a roomy SUV.

Bancas from Maya are via scheduled times and cost is less than 200 pesos. However, it is advised to pay more and arrange a private banca or a banca via the management of the accommodation you are staying with. This will take a lot of frustration out of your journey.

You can get a taxi from the ferry terminal. It will cost approximately 120 pesos and take around 20 – 40 mins. depending on traffic.

Another alternative is Jeepney. Much cheaper but will take much longer as you need to change Jeepneys.

Alternatively, if you are staying at a hotel they can normally arrange transport for you to meet you at the port. The cost will not be that much more than a taxi and you would normally have a much nicer car and accountability.

we recommend both Cathay Pacific and Cebu Pacific Airlines from Hong Kong. Try to compare rates online: http://www.cathaypacific.com and http://www.cebupacificair.com

you will probably find that Cebu Pacific is about half the price. their schedules are comparable to Cathays so that may influence your decision!
